Website privacy policy

This privacy policy explains what the mydentalit.com website collects when you visit or send us a message, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. In short: no analytics, no advertising trackers, and contact-form messages go to our email, not a website database.

Who we are

This website is run by My Dental IT, a company that provides IT services for dental offices. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean My Dental IT, and “you” means anyone who visits the site.

You can reach us by mail or email:

1805 N. Carson Street, Suite X-120
Carson City, NV 89701

What this privacy policy covers

This policy covers the mydentalit.com website only. It does not cover:

  • Our IT services. Patient information we may handle while supporting a dental practice is covered by the formal HIPAA business associate agreement we sign with every customer, not by this policy.
  • The remote support portal. The portal at remote.mydentalit.com is a separate service that you use when you start a support session with us, and this policy does not apply to it. See how a remote support session works.

Messages you send through the contact form

When you use the form on our contact page, the website emails us your name, phone number, email address, your message and the address of the page you sent it from. The message is not stored in the website’s database. To limit spam, the site only keeps a count of recent messages from each IP address, in scrambled (hashed) form, and that count expires after one hour.

We use these details to reply to you and to deal with your request. Your message stays in our email for as long as we need it for that, including any follow-up.

Server logs

Like most websites, this site runs on servers that keep a log of the requests they receive. Our hosting provider keeps these logs, which record details such as your IP address, the browser you use and the pages you request.

The logs are used for security and to keep the site running, for example to spot and block attacks or to find the cause of an error. We do not use them to build a profile of you.

Cookies on this website

A cookie is a small piece of data that a website stores in your browser. This site sets no cookies for visitors, with two narrow exceptions:

  • A security cookie. Our hosting network’s security service may set a strictly necessary cookie, for example Cloudflare’s __cf_bm, to tell people from automated bots. It helps protect the site and is not used for advertising.
  • Site management cookies. WordPress, the software the site runs on, sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the site. If you are reading the site, you do not get them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

No analytics or advertising trackers

We do not use analytics tools, advertising trackers, social media pixels or similar technology on this website. We do not follow you across other sites, and apart from the server logs described above, we do not record which pages you visit on this one.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you from this website, such as a message you sent through the form;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it.

To make a request, email us or send us a message. We may need to confirm who you are before we act, so that your information does not go to someone else. Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you further rights.

Please do not send patient information

Do not send patient information through the contact form. That includes patient names, dates of birth, chart notes, X-rays, insurance details and anything else that could identify a patient. The form is not meant for that kind of information.

If your request involves patient records, describe the problem in general terms, such as “the billing software will not open on the front desk PC”, and we will follow up with you directly.

Children

This website is meant for dental offices and the people who run them. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information through the site, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy when the website or the law changes. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, so you can see whether anything has changed since your last visit.

Contact us about privacy

If you have a question about this policy or about information we hold about you, email or call us. For questions about our services rather than this website, our dental IT support FAQ may already have the answer.

[CONFIRM: have this privacy policy reviewed before launch]
